The Articles

Coalition Law

Known as The Articles, our decrees are written in a scroll that follow us to every faire.

They serve to keep order amongst the crew, but more importantly to ensure all beverages are consumed without a single drop being lost.

From our experience however, the punishment can be more enjoyable than the drink.

The Articles of the Atlantic Raiders Coalition

  1. Captains of the Flagships “The Damned Promise” and “The Dead Rabbit” shall remain the sole co-commodores of the ARC Fleet with authorities in equal measure.
  2. Crew members shall have an equal vote in affairs of moment.
  3. Offending persons of spilled drink shall receive an onsite punishment determined by captain and carried out by the accused.
  4. All calls of huzzah shall be met in kind. Those who do not shall take a heavy sip of drink in hand.
  5. Mutinous behavior shall call for an onsite punishment determined by captain and carried out by the accused.
  6. If a member of the crew lost their sea legs due to inebriation, another member shall be assigned until the former is safe.
  7. Every member’s quarrel shall end outside the fairgrounds.
  8. All members are forbidden from entering the Wishing Web, and/or dealing with the sirens.
  9. Captains are responsible for the acquisition and distribution of the ARC coin to their specific crews, with a payout to the ARC coffer that will be used to loan or distribute as needed when crew members need coin and their Captain is otherwise indisposed.
  10. All initiated members must be placed into one of three primary tiers.
  11. A commodore must be present to approve any and all initiates into one of the tiered ranks. In the absence thereof, the initiate automatically becomes a Land Raider.
  12. Since all ships in the ARC registry are active, a crew member must be devoted to a single ship with a single position to ensure all ships are fully manned at all times.
  13. The punishment of lashings is reserved for official off-site Conclaves and shall not be given in the face of the public.

Tiers of Rank

  • Tier 1 (i.e. Land Raider) rank is granted to those who show enjoyment, and an appreciation for the ARC and the Renaissance Faire, and are required to take an oath.
  • Tier 2 (i.e. ARC Loyalists) rank is granted to family, and friends met outside of faire, and are required to take an oath.
  • Tier 2a (i.e. ARC Agent) rank is granted to employees of faire, and are required to take an oath.
  • Tier 3 (i.e. formal crew, ABS) rank is acquired under the requirements of: 1 weekend OR 3 days of faire attendance within one season; a ranked member to act as sponsor; a backstory approved by commodores; a faire outfit; and taking of an oath.
